Coogee Street

This project involved the renovation and extension of an existing residence on a corner site, with the design intent focused on retaining and refreshing the original home while introducing a contemporary living environment for a modern family.

The new addition forms a light-filled open-plan living area with raking ceilings and highlight windows that provide natural light and cross ventilation. Large openings connect the interior directly to an alfresco and courtyard pool area, establishing a strong indoor–outdoor relationship.

Externally, painted brickwork maintains the presence of the original dwelling, while darker cladding and expressed structural elements define the contemporary extension. The result is a balanced composition that respects the existing home while providing improved spatial flow, light and functionality.
